During my stay at San Francisco Proper Hotel, the stunning design and welcoming atmosphere truly impressed me. However, I faced some challenges with maintenance issues in my room and a somewhat daunting neighborhood outside. While the staff was friendly and accommodating, the experience was mixed due to these concerns.

The room had a unique decor style, but there were several maintenance issues, like a loose lighting fixture and a faulty toilet flush handle. The shower shelf was too short for the wonderful Aesop amenities provided, which made it a bit inconvenient to use. Overall, the aesthetics were appealing, but functionality could be improved.

I found the staff to be attentive and friendly. Diane, in particular, went above and beyond to assist me when I faced a challenge during my stay. However, there were instances where management could have been more proactive in addressing room issues before I had to bring them up to the front desk.

The hotel's location in SOMA had beautiful surroundings, but I felt uncomfortable walking around after dark, given the prevalence of homelessness and apparent crime in the area. While it was conveniently close to popular attractions, the environment felt unsafe at times.
